Shitty 80's Horror Movie Review: My Bloody Valentine (franchise)

This is the only series, so far, that I watched out of order. I saw the new version in a RedBox and just decided to get it on a whim. I think at the time I was already in the middle of a franchise, so I went ahead and watched it then immediately put it on the back burner so I wouldn't get confused.

Mmmmm, Jensen Ackles.

I was pleasantly surprised about the ending of each movie. Having seen the newest one where it was the prodigal son who did the killing first, I was ready for just an out-of-date identical story from the original. NOT SO!

It was a nice change and I'm glad I got to see these movies.

I think a nice change in these is that they are not relying in monsters and ghosts to do their killing, but instead is a plausible story of psychosis and revenge.

Bravo.

2014 Reading Update

I have been super busy lately, what with getting myself injured and going on various job interviews that have inevitably lead to nothing but disappointment and stress migraines.

I started to read two separate books since the last time I posted a book review and both of them have just sat, untouched, after the first few pages because I have been so depressed and non-functional (both physically and emotionally) that I just could not pick them up again.

Maybe I was just aiming too high with those books (one was quite a big one and the other is a very dense, because yes, those are two separate things). I've decided to pick up another one and try to start over with that.  Something smaller, but one that I have actually been wanting to read for some time. It's along the same lines as my favorite subject matter(s) and I'm hoping that it will spark my brain into actually WANTING to read again.

I kinda didn't want to watch this show because my heart and soul will always belong to Sir Anthony Hopkins, but on a whim, after season one had already ended and Tumblr would not shut up about it, I picked it up and OH MY GOD...

The visuals in the show are amazing and beautiful, plus they REALLY don't skip on the violence and carnage. I think for something with this subject matter, that's a really important thing.  It's beautifully acted by everyone in the cast and I have to now admit that Mads has stolen my heart in his portrayal of Dr. Lecter.

Two severed thumbs up. Would watch again.

Shitty 80's Horror Movie Review: Night of the Demons (franchise)

After the last disaster that was "Night of the Demon," I finally got it right.

Night of the Demons (1988)

This was definitely an odd set of movies. I can't really remember if it was the house or an evil spirit that made them all crazy... But I can probably tell you that I won't be watching them again to find out.

Things have been interesting the past two weeks, what with all the interview nonsense.  I don't think there will ever be a point in my life where I walk into an interview situation and actually feel like I'm going to get the job.  Does that part ever get any better?

Someone asked me why I don't just get a little job first so that I at least have an income and just look for another job later. The answer to that is both simple and very complex. I don't want to rush into a job that I think is going to be temporary and would most likely drive me insane, because I know the type of person I am. I am the type of person who would STAY in that hell job, bored and frustrated for the rest of my life if given the choice because I would be safe.  I fear and loathe the interview and resume proccess so much that I would just settle down with whatever pissy little occupation set itself in front of me and then end up hating myself more and more as time goes by (re: Wal-Mart for 5 years).

I pretty much know that nothing around here is going to make me happy (that would involve limitless amounts of cash, a personal trainer, and Tom Hiddleston on speed dial), but I at least want to find something that I can make a living off of and not want to go postal and stab all of my co-workers in the face (re: Wal-Mart for 5 years).

And so that brings me to all the running around I have been doing lately. Let me break it down for you:

Feb 1-2: On the coast with parents
Feb 3: Drive 2 1/2 hours to prison interview #1
~1 1/2 hours to Hattiesburg
(this is where the back pain began and I could not stand up)
Feb 7: Back to parents for chiropractor
Feb 9: Back to house
Feb 11: Up to Tara's for prison interview #2
Feb 13: 3 1/2 hours back to coast for chiropractor
Feb 17: 3 1/2 hours back to Tara's for office pre-interview test

And I have to head back to Hattiesburg tomorrow for the Hideout fundraiser.

Then back to the coast Friday for the chiropractor.

I am tired.

Shitty 80's Horror Movie Review: Night of the Demon

Me watching this movie started out as a mistake.  My good friend who also loves bad 80's horror movies suggested that I watch "Night of the Demons" but the first thing I found was "Night of the Demon" and I had no idea they were different movies.  So, I watched this one and ended up laughing SO HARD.

The beginning of the movie is this great opening sequence with an upbeat jazzy flute playing that just had me giggling, considering this is supposed to be a movie about a Big Foot type creature that hunts campers in the woods.

Plus, it has wang in it!

So, we have the exciting and fun story of my awesome birthday from last week.  That was fun.

Then we have the story about my back. That was also fun.

Now, we just have me trying to survive. Looking for a job (badly and without result, I might add), and spending a lot of time in the car, even though it hurts like hell.

The good part about this job interview is that I get to visit my friend Tara and maybe forget about things for a while... before I just have to get back in the car (which really does not feel good at this time) and go BACK down to the coast to see the chiropractor again.

Wow, these updates really suck.

I'll try to get back to doing 'Let's Talk About...' next week.
